The Learn to Skate program is targeted for children with limited or no skating experience. Basic skating skills are taught in a fun-filled environment. Sessions are lead by a professional skating instructor with other on-ice helpers. Skating skills taught range from learning to stand and balance, going forwards and backwards, stopping and turning. Games and small group instruction are used as part of the sessions.
Skating lessons are 45 minutes long. A jersey and set of socks are provided. Full equipment is required to be worn by all skaters which includes: CSA approved helmet with mask, neckguard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, hockey/riqngette pants, shin pads, jock/jill, and skates.
Program runs Tuesday evenings, 6 PM at the West End Recreation Centre.
