Dave Kelton – Community Builder

 

 

The Guelph Ringette Association (GRA) is nominating Dave Kelton for the “Community Builder” award in recognition of his dedication and commitment to the sport of Ringette in Guelph.  Dave has been actively involved in the GRA for the past 9 years and he has been instrumental in helping the association thrive to achieve its current caliber and popularity in Guelph.  He has served in a variety of capacities throughout the years, typically volunteering for numerous positions and activities simultaneously.  His outstanding activities and contributions include the following:

 

·         Dave has been a member of the GRA Executive for the past 7 years, serving as President and Past-President for 4 of these years, as well as concurrently being director of Coach and Player Development.

·         In the early years on the GRA Executive he was the association’s Equipment Director

·         He has been a head coach and assistant coach for both regional and provincial teams.

·         He has organized and led evaluations and tryouts for provincial and regional teams.

·         Dave was personally responsible for re-kindling the AA and A level ringette program in Guelph for the last 4 years.

·         Dave has been the GRA representative at NWRL and Western Region meetings for the past several years, helping to organize and develop ringette throughout the Region.

·         Dave has been a model coach and ringette parent by demonstrating the highest commitment to sportsmanship first and well-balanced competitive play.

·         Despite leading an extremely busy professional and family life, Dave always finds time to support GRA fundraising and membership events. As an example, each and every year Dave acts as a Tournament Convenor for the Guelph Ringette tournament in addition to many other activities.

·         He continues to be a strong voice for reasoned and moderating thinking when it comes to dealing with issues relating to the successful operation of the GRA, teams, or inter-association events or issues.

 

In total, Dave devotes about 800 hours of his time per year to coaching, team organization – coach and player development, GRA Executive leadership and other active GRA or regional association events.

 

Over the past 9 years, Dave has been a visible and tireless ambassador of ringette in the City of Guelph and he has established a high standard for us all to follow.

 

Rhonda Fisher – Community Builder

 

 

The Guelph Ringette Association (GRA) is nominating Rhonda Fisher for the “Community Builder” award in recognition of her longstanding and enthusiastic commitment to the sport of Ringette in Guelph.  Rhonda has actively involved in the GRA for the past 7 years and she has been instrumental in the helping the association to achieve its current size and popularity in Guelph.  She has served in a variety of capacities, typically volunteering for numerous positions and activities simultaneously.  Her outstanding activities and contributions include the following:

 

·         Rhonda has been the lead registrar for the association for the last 7 years, a job that includes among other things:

o       Preparation of registration forms and notices to the association and the community at large;

o       Maintaining a comprehensive database of all registrations, team TRFs, coaches and their qualifications;

o       Management and documentation of all registration payments – including the thankless job of pursuing late payments; and

o       Maintaining on-site registration tables in the Spring and early Fall registration periods.

o       Initiating on-line registration for GRA for the 2007-2008 year.

·         She has coached various teams throughout the years, including house league and provincial teams.

·         Rhonda continues to be an active member of the GRA Executive, where regularly contributes to the smooth operation of the GRA.

·         Rhonda has been the primary person responsible for coordinating communication between the Executive and the membership; a key role in ensuring effective and efficient two-way communication.

·         Rhonda has served on the Guelph Ringette Tournament committee for the last several years, coordinating and recruiting volunteers to fill over 800 hours of volunteerism required to run such a tournament.

·         During all association events, (such as family night skates, Santa Claus parade, the annual GRA tournament, and various fund raising events), Rhonda has been common active participant.

 

In total, Rhonda devotes over 600 hours of her time per year for registration, the GRA tournament, coaching, and active participation in the GRA.

 

Over the past 9 years, Rhonda has been one of the key driving forces behind the development and growth of Ringette in Guelph.  In essence, Rhonda is Ringette in Guelph.
