Levels of Play

There are several levels of play in Ringette, categorized by age as of Dec 31st of the start of the season. Divisions were recently renamed under the new Long Term Development Plan (LTDP) rolled out nationally by Ringete Canada. Boys are welcome to play at any age level but are restricted to regional houseleague teams (non-competitive).

U7 (Learn-to-Skate or Bunny Minor) 7 yrs & under
U8 (Bunny Major) 8 yrs & under
U10 (Novice) 10 yrs & under
U12 (Petite) 12 yrs & under
U14 (Tween) 14 yrs & under
U16 (Junior) 16 yrs & under
U19 (Belle) 19 yrs & under
18+ (Open) 18 years & over

Within each age are levels of play and include B & C (regional) and A & AA (provincial/competitive). Depending on the age group, tournaments are held throughout the season, with Regional Championships being the highlight for B & C level teams, while Provincials are the finale for the A & AA level teams that qualify.

Provincial Champions in the U16 and U19 AA divisions go on to the Canadian National Ringette Championships, and U14 AA Provincial Champions represent Ontario at the Eastern Championships.
